Eye inflammations
Typical signs of eye inflammation are sensitive and reddened eyes that hurt and water, or eyelids that are stuck together.
Causes of eye inflammation
The causes of ocular inflammation are often bacteria that invade the eye and affect the conjunctiva. The consequences can be far-reaching: from watery, sometimes painful eyes to sensitive, itchy skin and reddened eyes to a strong sensitivity to light. A green-yellow mucus in the eye is also a sign of inflammation of the conjunctiva.
- If bacteria get to the conjunctiva and spread from there, eye inflammation can develop.
- If you are exposed to drafts, for example, bacteria can enter the eye through the air.
- Dry eyes, for example due to heating air, are also susceptible to inflammation.
- In addition, external circumstances can also lead to bacterial infestation, such as when dust and dirt are transmitted through the air.
- Also (soft) contact lenses or glass eyes are often the culprits when you are affected by eye inflammation.
If eye inflammation is detected and treated early, it usually subsides within a few days and does not leave any permanent damage to the eye.
