Lenticular bands (lat. Zonula ciliaris)

The lens ligaments - also called zonular fibers - are elastic fibers arranged in a spoke-like pattern around the capsule in which the lens of the eye is located. They hold the lens in position and transmit the movements of the ciliary muscle to it. Thus, they are an important component of accommodation.

With a lens exchange, the ciliary muscle as well as the lens ligaments and the lens capsule remain unaffected. The artificial multifocal lens is simply inserted into the lens apparatus in place of the patient's own lens.
