Strabismus is one of the most common visual impairments in children. Nearly 3% of children are affected. Strabismus can occur due to lens opacities, myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism and must always be thoroughly diagnosed and treated. Otherwise, the weaker eye will be neglected by the brain, leading to irreversible visual impairment (amblyopia).
