Early Detection and Eye Examinations in Children

A routine eye examination for newborns and children is therefore recommended. From 18 months onward, potential vision disorders can be detected in order to identify and treat defects such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism early. An eye examination with an ophthalmologist is recommended by 30 to 42 months at the latest.
