Standard lenses are artificial lenses made of flexible material. These are monofocal lenses. Due to the single focal point, patients can choose between sharp vision for near or far distances. The costs are fully covered by health insurance providers.
Toric lenses can correct distortions caused by corneal curvature (astigmatism). As a rule, they reduce the distortion so that driving without visual aids becomes possible. Toric lenses are also available as multifocal versions.
Aspheric lenses compensate for a specific aberration and improve contrast vision – especially at twilight. They are often combined with a UV and blue light filter.
Multifocal lenses have several focal points. They enable largely sharp vision at various distances.
